We offer different types of activities. Ranging from play, dance and music to reading, cooking and crafts with different materials. While watching the activities and listening carefully to the children, we monitor the needs and interests they show. If many toddlers go running in a place where it is dangerous, we then create a place and an activity where they can run safely. The need is indeed to run.
Babies
Babies easily become over-stimulated. Therefore, our space is equipped to be quiet. The play materials are soft, gentle, and consciously chosen. We vary activities so that there are not too many toys lying on the ground, but there are always new toys to discover, which keeps the space clear and attractive.
We often sit with the babies on the carpet and track their play and development. We play along with what the child shows us he or she wants to do. Thus, we create an environment that makes space for the natural development of the child. Each child often receives one-on-one attention, many times with the same person. We work with a team of trusted carers.
Toddlers discover
We give space to do things themselves. When they are not able to do something, we help them learn how to. We play, sing, dance, ‘cook’ outside with mud, make crafts, rest, eat with attention, cycle, enjoy, discover, and develop. We provide a variety of materials (for example, the mud from outside for ‘cooking’) and let the children be creative. They explore with, for example, sand or glue sticks, or they can paint leaves and see what they can build with twigs.
